World Building
Old Nevalen
Nevalen was founded when seven travelers found a being of light when they were very young. Out of greed for power, they created a castle and kept the being of light locked away and named them their "Queen". The being later took on this name and become the face of this great nation of diversity.
After generations of living with the descendants of the seven travelers, the Queen finally escaped from the castle and met a man. They fell in love with this man and started a revolution against their own kingdom without the citizens recognizing them. They later had their child, Surv, whom the descendants of the seven travelers deemed as a risk to the kingdom and sentenced to death. One of the descendants took Surv to a river to drown them, but they survived and was found by a couple in a small valley town that milled cornflowers for dye. While that was happening, the descendants slayed the Queen and masked their death to the public by claiming the Queen was sick. A rumor was started that only the blood of a dragon could save their dear Queen.
As the years went by, Surv grew older and during a terrible storm, they housed Zo who had been injured during her trip. As Zo healed, she noticed Surv's athletic capabilities and asked their parents if Surv could come with her to become a knight in Nevalen. It was difficult for their parents, but they eventually agreed for Surv to go. Surv made the cut and became a knight within the NevaNine.
The Forgotten Age
After a catastrophic quest with the NevaNine, the kingdom went up in flames and the kingdom they once knew disappeared. Zo was marked as missing in action, no one had seen if Xander was dead or alive, and Surv had been consumed by the void, losing all of their memory. With only their name and the clothes on their back, Surv meets Aelin and Aubrey. Together they make a small town on the edge of a winding river. People move in and an election takes place. Surv does not apply and moves away to build a small cottage far away. There they meet travelers that say they know them, Elliot, their adoptive mom, and Bre, one of their trainers from the NevaNine. With the Queen dead and the Captain (Zo) presumed dead, Surv was the next in line to the throne.
Elliot and Bre take Surv to the village they had mustered to rebuild the kingdom and placed them as the ruler. After much rebuilding, Zo returns and is able to bring Surv back to their original form with their memories intact. With their memories back and with both of their parents' support, Surv was able to grasp the role as the Majesty.
New Nevalen
After the ups and downs with several different attacks, Nevalen blossoms into a true kingdom. Surv and Xander build a family together, along with several other supporting characters. A new knight group is formed with Zo as the captain. Surv and Day help the knights train against magic and also how to use it.
Surv's name as a Majesty reaches other nations and they begin making allies from all over. Their docks expand and more people without a nation to go home to come to live in Nevalen. Friends come in and out of their life, especially as they get older and a new force of evil arises from the grave.
Glass
Glass is one of Nevalen's many strengths. Every window is specially crafted in a stained-glass manner. Dishware and ornaments are crafted through blowing techniques. Glass is always in-demand with Nevalen's culture, especially dishware, which is commonly broken during celebrations or "Dinner Parties".
One of Nevalen's special festivals is the Festival of Lights where the kingdom is lit up with beautiful lanterns and candle holders. When the sun sets, citizens go down to the docks in canoes and wait for the sailors to release glass blown flowers onto the water with lights in them.
"Dinner Parties" can be frequent but are a part of Nevalen's culture that can be shocking to others. The name makes it sound fun and delightful, but it can be heated and usually humorous to only the outsiders. "Dinner Parties" happen when two or more people have a disagreement over a matter and cannot reach a compromise verbally. The day will go on as normal and, when dinner comes, they will eat until the others have finished. When dinner has been deemed finished or when the people who have the disagreement can't handle it anymore, they will fight over or on the table, resulting in dishes being broken. There have been several occasions where the fight has gone out of the house and the "Dinner Party" then transitions into a race.
After the fight, steam is blown and the people having a disagreement are able to come to terms or an agreement.
