World Building
Merry Gentlemen
The Merry Gentlemen was founded a very, very long time ago in a small coven. Eventually it tied to religion and grew into what it is today. The purpose of the Merry Gentlemen was to ensure that the holiday spirit continued from generation to generation. Though as time went on, that changed to ensure wealth.
Lady Ruth's Schoolhouse
When Lady Ruth was kicked out of the Estate, she resigned her name as a Merry and became a Lady. She worked at a lighthouse in the north and later built a schoolhouse where she could bless children the Merrys deemed as 'unworthy' or 'filthy' through a hatch in the roof. The children would live in the village's orphanage or hosted families as they attended the school to gain an education and proper training for their gifts. This school was known as the Light of Lady and Lords.
The Curse
The Curse is a period of twelve years in which Snow used so much of his gift in outrage that he accidentally froze the world in a loop. No one aged, no time passed, and the world was encapsulated in a never-ending winter. The Estate never told the people what the real cause was for the endless winter and used it as a way to promote their propaganda to secure the Estate's wealth. During this period, Snow stayed in his manor to recover enough to save both himself and Noel from the Estate. Snow would have saved Noel sooner, but the Revolution kept him away to ensure he wouldn't die trying.
Revolution v. Council
The first to form was the Council. The Council was a group of Merrys within the Estate that were motivated by wealth. To ensure they could gain the most wealth, they would murder Merrys at the Estate so they wouldn't have to split the wealth with them. For them, the less Merrys at the Estate, the better. Eventually they stopped blessing children to gain more wealth and to also sway the people into thinking being a Merry was a rare occurrence that should be invested in.
The Revolution stemmed within the Estate as an escape plan, including two adults and four children. Though as events evolved, they fought against the Council and declared their separation from the Estate before escaping. To keep the Council from reporting them as criminals, they agreed to have monthly meetings with the Council. After another fight, they changed the monthly meetings to quarterly meetings where only one messenger was needed.
The Revolution expanded over the years, joining forces with the Spielzeug Army and Lady Ruth's school.
