Cooper has seen more than he should have at his age. But when the trumpets are sounding at the end of the world, he guesses that's the consequence of staying alive. After joining a missionary focused on saving people's lives, he is sent off to a small town in the middle of nowhere to get recruits. When no one gave him the time of day, someone finally tells him about Becky, someone cast out of the town but rumored to be crazy enough for the job. He was imagining a crazy old lady yelling at the clouds. To say he was shocked when he learned who Becky truly was, was an understatement.

Becky had been ready for the end of the world for as long as he could remember. When he came out, the town was less than forgiving, and living off the grid became a lifestyle he learned to love. He knew he was more than prepared when the trumpets started sounding. He was thankful to be alone and unbothered at the end of the world, until Cooper shows up and wrecks his entire plan to die alone.
